I recently worked with some clients who were really struggling to create their own eft setup statements. By that, I mean they understood what they needed to tap on but couldn’t come up with personalised or detailed EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) statements.
Typically, when setting up an EFT statement, we first describe the issue followed by a statement of self-acceptance, self-love, or self-care. For example, you might say, “Even though I have this really troubling thought in my mind, I still love and accept myself anyway.” But here’s the important part: not every single EFT statement will resonate with you. Each person’s experience with an issue is unique, so while some parts of an EFT statement may resonate deeply, other parts might not—and that’s completely acceptable.
However, there are some common themes around common issues like stress, anxiety, negative thoughts or beliefs, and specific traumas. As we state our EFT tapping phrases, we might uncover other limiting beliefs or underlying issues related to the initial statement—something we were previously unaware of. This can often reveal key insights into the source of the issue which is necessary for healing.
Being playful and creative when forming EFT tapping statements is also essential for the healing process to begin.
I’d like to introduce you to a small tool that can help spark creativity when crafting your EFT statements. Just click “Generate More Statements,” and the tool will provide a few random options for you to try. You can write them down, say them out loud, and see which resonate with you. A basic script often starts with, “Even though I have this issue/problem…” followed by, “I deeply and completely accept and love myself.” Alternatively, you could say, “Even though I feel this emotion or sensation in my body, I accept it and choose to let it go.”

Once you have an EFT statement that truly resonates with your issue, and you’ve prepared your reminder phrases to reduce the intensity of your problem down to zero, I suggest shifting to tapping on reframing the issue or even tapping on positive affirmations rather than staying focused on the negative. For example, your reframe or positive tapping phrases might include, “I really deserve this,” “I genuinely accept and honor myself,” “I am worthy of self-love,” or “I am capable of self-care.”
